WIHS Local Day & Kimmy’s Birthday!
This is a great shot of Melanie Wright (trainer), Alexis Maffry on Lariat at Local Day at Washington International Horse Show, taken by Caroline Maffry. Although she didn’t win any ribbons, she had great clear rounds out of 32 riders! Way to go Alexis!!
Also, we can’t forget about Laurie Hilburg, who was Reserve Champion Adult Hunter with horse Sienna at Local Day! Nice job Laurie!!

Some of the results from the Pennsylvania National Horse Show are in! Rolling Acres riders did well and continued to show the hunter world what Rolling Acres is all about!
In the Small Junior Hunter 16-17 Under Saddle class, Ashley Foster riding Sin City, owned by Annie Friedman, came in 1st place winning the entire class! Way to go!
In the Small Junior Hunter 16-17 Over Fences division, Ashley Foster riding Sin City placed 4th,
Ashley Foster riding Turtle Bay placed 6th and Annie Friedman riding Now How Z placed 11th. Nice job ladies!
In the Small Junior Handy Hunter 16-17 Over Fences class, Ashley Foster riding Turtle Bay finished with a 3rd Ashley Foster riding Sin City finished in 5th place. In the Small Junior Hunter 16-17 Over Fences class, Ashley Foster riding Turtle Bay placed 4th and Ashley Foster riding Sin City placed 5th. Great riding!
Allison Bergmeyer riding Mcgwire didn’t pin in the Large Junior Hunter 15 & Under, but rode very well and made us all proud!
In the Large Junior Hunter 16-17 Over Fences class, Hannah Showell riding Axtrex finished in 10th. Way to go!

Capital Challenge Horse Show Results AND a New Baby!!
Lots of exciting news in today’s blog!! Keep reading below to find out all the latest happenings at Rolling Acres.
First off, we have wonderful news to announce…one of our past riders just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this past week! We would like to welcome Grace Ya-Mei Duvall into the world on October 2, 2013 at 12:17 a.m. to parents Jayne Tung and Paul Duvall. Patty will have a lead line pony ready by the end of next week 🙂
Last week, Rolling Acre riders were at the Annual Capital Challenge Horse Show.
On Thursday, Oct. 3rd, in the Children’s Adult Jumper 1.15m 11 2a class, Devon Monroe riding Shinkansen finished with a 6th place, out of 51 total riders!! Whoa! Congratulations to Devon!
On Friday, Oct. 4th, in the Large Junior Hunter 16-17 Handy Hunter class Hannah Showell riding Axtrex finished 4th, Alyson Gurney riding The Golden Compass finished 7th, and Ashley Foster riding Sand’oro, owned by Westwood Farms, LLC , finished in 8th. There were 25 total riders in the class. Great job ladies!!
In the Small Junior Hunter 16-17 division, Ashley Foster riding Sin City, owned by Annie Friedman, finished in 1st and with a 2nd place. Riding Turtle Bay in the same class, Ashley finished with a 3rd and with a 6th.
Also, with some exciting news, Ashley Foster and Sin City, owned by Annie Friedman, tied for Grand Champion Junior Hunter AND Best Junior Rider at the Capital Challenge show! WAY TO GO ASHLEY!!

Congrats to Brianna Sims and Alyson Gurney on 2nd and 3rd in the MHSA Finals!! Plus Alyson’s horse, The Golden Compass was chosen by the judges as the Best Equitation Horse at the show! Way to go ladies!!

Ashley Foster to Receive Award at Annual Maryland Horse Council BBQ Picnic!!
Exciting news!!
This Saturday, September 14th, Ashley Foster will be awarded the Maryland Horse Industry Board’s Touch of Class Award, presented by the Lt. Governor! This award is in recognition of Ashley Foster’s achievement of a USEF National Junior Hunter Championship with Charade.
All this and more will be happening at the Annual Maryland Horse Council BBQ Picnic to be held at Dodon Farm. There will be live music, a silent auction, games, great food and wine tastings at the new Dodon Winery. Want to come see Ashley receive her award and join-in on the fun?
Ashley Foster Places Top 10 in $500,000 Hunter Prix!!
Sending a HUGE congratulations to Ashley Foster for being one of only two junior riders who finished in the Top 10 in the Hunter Prix. Ashley ended up placing 10th in the $500,000 Hunter Prix Final at Saugerties this weekend! She rode Charade, owned by Don & Blythe Rupple. Ashley & Charade were paired in 2012 and they were Champion in the Large Junior Hunters 16-17 at the National Horse Show, Washington International Horse Show, Capital Challenge and the Upperville Horse Show. She was also the 2012 USEF High Point Award Winner in the Junior Hunter Large 16-17 division. Charade was sold last year, but Ashley was able to ride again in Saugerties. What a great reunion for the pair!
